Welcome to Country Farm Cakes, the Sussex home of  Great British traditional handmade cakes, where baking traditions that have been passed down family generations are as cherished today as they were in a bygone era. As a young boy growing up on a Surrey farm, our kitchen was filled with the delicious aroma of home baking. But our family passion for good, honest and tasty food began with my Grandfather who started farming in the 1930's.

Today we bake our cakes in a converted barn on Knepp Castle Estate, in the heart of West Sussex. I's a journey that began in 1991 in my Mum's kitchen at home, she decided to sell the delicious homemade cakes that she had been baking since my sister and I were children. She approached the local village shop with a gorgeous fruit cake and a traditional Victoria sandwich and she was soon baking flat out to meet the increasing demand. Customers commented that her home-made cakes tasted just like those that their own Mothers used to bake when they were young. 

And so, COUNTRY FARM CAKES was born!

 

My Father, Cliff joined my Mother baking in our little bakery on the family farm and soon I joined the team, baking to meet the ever growing demand.

Some of our recipes are old forgotten family recipes that we have rekindled, other are ones that we have spent many hours creating, and tasting! to get it just right. We bake in small batches in stone based ovens, using the finest ingredients, just as you would at home.
